FEATURING

The Woodstock Infantry Association does a lot of things. The one thing that we always do is stick together. When one of our own struggles, we all struggle. When one of our own hurts, we all hurt. We have a new opportunity to come together. Jason Hintz’s family is going through a difficult time right now. Jason’s Aunt Kathy has a severe health issue going on that has been very draining emotionally and financially. And, while the funds we have raised to this point are for the good of the soldiers and their immediate families, our talents are not. We are hosting a fund raiser to provide some relief, both emotionally and financially to their family. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Restoring Woodstock Civil War Monument

Woodstock Infantry Association has rededicated the statue and pledged to restore and maintain it. We hoped to raise $10,000 in the next six months to clean the monument, replace the concrete and fencing that surrounds it, and repair a broken anchor on one of the sides of the statue. He hopes that the effort will foster a greater bond between infantry members and the community.

The statue was erected Nov. 3, 1909. After the Civil War, a group called the Grand Army of the Republic formed in the area to improve social services provided to veterans and their widows. Local women formed an auxiliary offshoot to the group, called the Women’s Relief Core. The Relief Core began discussing the monument in 1897. Over the years, members raised money by selling food and personalizing quilts.
